ARCHITECT’S PLANS GO AWRY DURING OWN KITCHEN RENOVATION ON DIY NETWORK’S “RENOVATION REALITIES”

GETTING FROM “BEFORE” TO “AFTER” CAN BE A REAL PAIN

NEW YORK April 26, 2010 – Architect Cheryl Obert of Columbus, Ohio, saw potential in her 1925 Craftsman-era home when she purchased it over four years ago. With the help of her partner Jess Heidorn, the ambitious couple went right to work on completely remodeling their home’s upstairs bathroom. However, it took months longer than expected due to a few miscues and missteps. Now, the couple wants to overhaul their outdated kitchen in one week. As Cheryl and Jess begin, the scope and scale of this job becomes painfully obvious. An unscheduled four-hour road trip to purchase a missing cabinet, a leaking gas line and wet drywall mud add to the couple’s struggle to stay on schedule and budget. Tune in on Saturday, May 15 at 9 p.m. ET to see if the obstacles and growing tensions prove to be too much for the couple to finish the renovation on time.

DIY Network’s Renovation Realities takes you where most home renovation shows wouldn’t dare. The typical story of the neglected home that’s magically transformed into a fairy-tale leaves out one important factor: the true story behind-the-scenes. The results always end up beautiful, but the process in between the start and finish can be anything but enchanted. There are always at least a few speed bumps - and one great story. This is real life, and DIY Network's Renovation Realities proves that even in home improvement, truth is often stranger than fiction. New episodes of Renovation Realities premiere on DIY Network every Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.
