May 5, 2010 A BEER CONNOISSEUR GETS THE ULTIMATE SPANISH GROTTO BREWERY ON DIY NETWORK’S “MAN CAVES” NEW YORK – May 5, 2010 – New Jersey homeowner J.P. Alarcon has a passion for travel and brewing beer, but has a problem. His hobby gets in his wife’s way. The messy situation has caused Alarcon to be pushed to the basement, where he can combine his love for both. DIY Network’s Man Caves hosts Tony “Goose” Siragusa and licensed contractor Jason Cameron transform Alarcon’s unfinished basement into an Old World inspired room. Catch the fifth season premiere of DIY Network’s Man Caves “Spanish Grotto” on Friday, June 4 at 9 p.m. ET. Borrow ideas from this episode of Man Caves to create your own space for kicking back with the boys with the Top 5 Things a Spanish Grotto Man Cave Should Have:
1. Earth Plaster Walls: Using clay to coat your walls instead of paint has many benefits, including keeping your basement cool and absorbing moisture. The clay is also an all natural, environmentally-friendly product.
2. Brew Station: Nothing is more refreshing than sipping on a fresh brew made in your own basement. This brew station includes a glass wall along with state of the art technology to make the perfect brew.
3. Wine Wall: A Spanish Grotto is not complete without an entire wall for wine. A terracotta wine wall is the perfect place to store a collection of wine.
4. Wood Beams: Authenticity is the most important aspect of a man cave. Wood Beams running across the ceiling is the perfect touch to make the Spanish Grotto Cave feel right out of the Spain.
5. Panel Style-Old World Bar: Every man cave needs a bar and this one isn’t any different. This bar is panel old world style. It has iron foot-and-drink rails to keep from spilling and is the perfect place to serve homemade brew directly from the brewing station.
DIY Network’s Man Caves is all about giving guys an exclusive space to hang out in their homes. In each episode, Cameron and Siragusa create a man cave solely for one lucky guy, while offering ideas and expert do-it-yourself instruction to help homeowners everywhere construct their own personal hangouts. New episodes of the fifth season of Man Caves air every Friday on DIY Network at 9 p.m. ET.
