May 6, 2010 Luke Bryan and His Mom Share Co-Host Duties On Special Mother’s Day Edition of GAC’s “Top 20 Country Countdown” “I think I was hyperventilating,” recounts LeClaire of the moments leading up to the announcement that her son had won. “When I heard the ‘L’ come out (of the presenter’s mouth) I fell over into the lap of the man seated next to me, breaking a toenail and scraping my hand!” While Luke tried to maintain his calm, he says the three minutes between his live performance and the presentation of his category was “a real intense three minutes of my life.” As only a proud mother can, LeClaire shares stories from Luke’s childhood including calls from his elementary school because they’d temporarily lost her son and another one when he’d darted across the street, running directly into the side of a car. Seems a girlfriend had distracted the second grader. She also proudly shows the Mother’s Day card he made for her when he was 7. “I’ll keep it forever.” With a young son and a second on the way, Luke’s perspective on parenthood has evolved. “The more you father a child, the more you can appreciate mothers. Now that I’m older, I can more clearly see the sacrifices mothers’ make.” The special Mother’s Day episode of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown will re-air Saturday, May 8, 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Sunday May 9, 12:00 p.m. and Monday, May 10, 10:00 a.m. All times Eastern.
